Applicants to the following accredited initial teacher education programs at RMIT must complete the Teaching Suitability Assessment (TSA) in addition to meeting academic entry requirements.
The Teaching Suitability Assessment is a statement of up to 750 words addressing three questions. The questions align with the non-academic attributes detailed in the Victorian Selection Framework.
The Teaching Suitability Assessment is designed to evaluate applicants’:
You do not need to prepare for the Teaching Suitability Assessment. The questions have been designed to allow you to draw on your lived experience to illustrate your motivation and readiness to become a teacher.
Complete the form below. This Teaching Suitability Assessment must be completed as part of the application process.
Please carefully read the prompts in the form and ensure that you address each point carefully. For a higher chance of admission, please ensure you have provided relevant responses to the prompts provided. You are allowed to write your statements outside the form, such as in a word document, and paste the response back into the form.
You are encouraged to complete it as early as possible and must meet the dates below to ensure that your application can be assessed.
If you are applying via VTAC, you must complete and submit the Teaching Suitability Assessment by one of the dates below to be considered for selection in that round:

International applicants* | Friday, 28 February 2025 |
* International applicants who are required to apply for a student visa are recommended to complete the test six weeks prior to the program’s commencement date to allow sufficient visa processing time.
Applicants can only complete the Teaching Suitability Assessment once. You will not receive a separate result for the Teaching Suitability Assessment, in the same way you would not expect to get “results” for a personal statement. Your response will be assessed for suitability in conjunction with your academic results. If you applied for the program directly to RMIT, the outcome of your program application will be sent to you via email. If you applied for the program via VTAC and are eligible for an offer, you will only receive this offer if the program is the highest preference for which you are eligible.
