1-on-1 wellbeing chats for international students

Chat with our Wellbeing Peer Workers about life as a student

Are you looking after your mental health and wellbeing? Need someone to hear you out?

Life as a student can sometimes be challenging, busy, unfamiliar or overwhelming – sometimes it helps to speak to someone who has been through the same things as you.

Our friendly Wellbeing Peer Workers, Sarwat and Supritha are current international students who can lend a supportive ear and help you with your journey as a student. They'll provide a safe and open space for you to share your experiences, and if you'd like, share tips on how to look after your mental health, as well as events and services to help support your wellbeing and journey at RMIT.

Topics our wellbeing peer worker can help with include:

  • Mental health recovery
  • Relationships and social skills
  • Overcoming homesickness
  • Family expectations or pressure
  • Cultural differences
  • Confidence and empowerment
  • Stress management
  • How and where to get professional support for your mental health and wellbeing
  • Life skills
  • And anything else you would like to talk about!

Meet Supritha

Hi, I'm Supritha and I was born and raised in India! I'm currently pursuing my Masters in Energy Efficient and Sustainable Buildings. My passion for creating aesthetic, healthy spaces has led me to this role as a Wellbeing Peer Worker here at RMIT. I love being in this role because it gives me the opportunity to support and empower others on their journey to improved mental health and overall wellbeing.

During my free time, you'll catch me bingeing thrillers, beach hopping, or simply getting lost listening to good music. I'm here to chat about anything you would like – whether it’s about mental health, homesickness, or just when life gives you lemons.

Sarwat

Meet Sarwat

Hi, I'm Sarwat and I was born and raised in Bangladesh! I'm currently studying Bachelor of Social Work.

My passion for promoting wellbeing and helping people has led me to this role as a Peer Worker here at RMIT. I love being in this role because it gives me the opportunity to support and empower others on their journey to improved mental health and overall wellbeing.

I'm a social butterfly and you'll often find me running around the city in search of the next best coffee shop. I'm here to chat with anything you would like – whether it’s about mental health, homesickness or sharing my favourite cafe spots around campus.
