CADES research encompasses all aspects of advanced electronics and sensing systems.

Since 2010, our research has received a number of valuable Australian Research Council (ARC) grants including five Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Early Career Researcher Awards (DECRA) and Australian Postdoctoral (APD) Fellowship, six ARC Discovery projects and several more linkage project grants.

Other grants include ARC Linkage, Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities (LIEF), AusAid and DEST (formerly Department of Education, Science and Training) grants.

We have also been awarded a large consortium grant from the Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF).

Our research has introduced novel systems that have been implemented world-wide by other researchers and industrial entities.

Research areas

Electronic devices and sensors

Research in this area creates two-dimensional electronic devices, micro and nano devices for resistive switching, sensors for human health and food safety, and gas sensors and membranes for greenhouse emission study.

Functional materials

Research in this area develops new nano and micro dimensional materials, which are incorporated into sensors, actuators, energy harvesting systems and solar cells.

Nano and micro technology-enabled systems

Research in this area develops systems for microbial analysis, and systems based on liquid metals with incorporated nano particles.

Feature Projects

Technologies created by our researchers are used in medicine, applied sciences and across many engineering fields.
