Confirmation of Enrolment

You will need a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) to apply for your student visa.

What is a Confirmation of Enrolment?

A Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) is an official document that is issued by RMIT and used by the Australian Government. It records exactly what you are studying, including the start and end dates expected for each program, any fees paid and estimated total fees required.

You must have a valid CoE while studying on a student visa in Australia.

Who is eligible for a CoE?

Information on RMIT’s Streamlined Student Visa Framework (SSVF).

How long does it take to receive a CoE?

RMIT will issue your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) after you have:

  • Accepted your offer, and
  • Met any outstanding conditions of your offer, and
  • Paid the tuition fee deposit, and
  • Paid your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) if RMIT has arranged it on your behalf, and
  • Provided formal acceptance documents and we have received them.

Once all the conditions above have been met RMIT will process and issue your CoE.

Where to find your CoE

We will email you via your online applicant portal when we have issued your CoE.

If you cannot find or access you CoE please send us a message via your online applicant portal.

Keeping your CoE once you are a student at RMIT

RMIT must update the status of your CoE and notify the Department of Home Affairs (which may affect your visa) if you:

  • Fail to commence your program within the commencement period
  • Commence your program but choose to discontinue your studies before completion
  • You are granted a leave of absence (a new CoE will be issued for your return)
  • You fail to re-enrol in your program and your enrolment status becomes inactive
  • You complete your program more than 2 months before the program end date on your CoE.
  • Are discontinued by the University for:
    • non-payment of fees
    • unsatisfactory academic progress
    • academic or general misconduct.

Other changes to your study plans may also affect your visa once you are a student at RMIT.
