Teaching Suitability Assessment

All applicants to initial teacher education programs must complete a free non-academic attributes assessment as part of the application process.

Applicants to the following accredited initial teacher education programs at RMIT must complete the Teaching Suitability Assessment (TSA) in addition to meeting academic entry requirements.

What is the Teaching Suitability Assessment?

The Teaching Suitability Assessment is a statement of up to 750 words addressing three questions. The questions align with the non-academic attributes detailed in the Victorian Selection Framework.

The Teaching Suitability Assessment is designed to evaluate applicants’:

  • Motivation to teach
  • Interpersonal/communication skills
  • Willingness to learn
  • Resilience
  • Self-efficacy
  • Conscientiousness
  • Organisational and planning skills

How do I prepare for the Teaching Suitability Assessment?

You do not need to prepare for the Teaching Suitability Assessment. The questions have been designed to allow you to draw on your lived experience to illustrate your motivation and readiness to become a teacher.

Applicants can only complete the Teaching Suitability Assessment once. Your response will be assessed for suitability in conjunction with your academic results. If you applied for the program directly to RMIT, the outcome of your program application will be sent to you via email. If you applied for the program via VTAC and are eligible for an offer, you will only receive this offer if the program is the highest preference for which you are eligible.
