Health cover requirements

International students holding an Australian student visa are required to maintain valid Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) with an approved OSHC provider.

All international students (and their dependents) require Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their student and student dependent visas.

As part of the Student Visa condition, the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) requires continuous Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for all student visa applications. This means you must be able to show DHA that you have OSHC for the entire duration of your student visa.

As an RMIT student we recommend that you purchase OSHC from our preferred OSHC provider Medibank. To make it easy for you RMIT can arrange this for you when you accept your offer.

Alternatively, you can choose to purchase OSHC yourself from an approved Australian health insurance provider. You will need to provide the details of this cover to RMIT before we can issue you a CoE.

Medibank Comprehensive OSHC

RMIT works with Medibank as our preferred OSHC provider.

In your offer letter,  the Medibank OSHC premium is calculated according to your program duration and visa length. To arrange your OSHC, you can pay this OSHC amount together with your Program deposit when you accept your Offer. RMIT can accept your OSHC payment and arrange on your behalf.
