Creative Industries in Media and Communication
Creative Industries is the TAFE arm of the school. It is about industry connections, and training students with current workplace skills and knowledge for the highly competitive media and entertainment industries.
Our graduates consistently set benchmark figures for graduate placement in areas such as television and film production companies, recording studios, concert and event presentation companies, commercial photographic imaging, multimedia houses and electronic games.
These industries are constantly changing and growing, but whilst new opportunities appear each day, competition for those places is fierce, so RMIT’s Creative Industries suite of TAFE programs prides itself on doing its utmost to provide students with the best possible chance of securing a place in this arena, utilizing current industry practice to ensure employability.
Our staff is made up of current and past industry practitioners, bringing their real world skills, and extensive list of industry contacts and awards, to the programs. Thereby ensuring the students are trained not by academics, not by hobbyists, but by active professionals who have spent their career living and working in their trade.
Each program has its own Industry Advisory Committee, a panel of representatives from the main players in the industries that play a crucial part in designing, developing and moderating the program content to reflect current industry practice.
The committee members advise on program structure and delivery, assessment methods and practical application, and the standard of facilities used in the programs.
For students who wish to continue study after a TAFE program, all of the programs have articulation arrangements in place with related HE discipline areas within RMIT Media and Communication, allowing seamless transition into degree and postgraduate study, to best utilize the dual sector advantage offered by this school.
If you are interested in moving into these creative industries, then we believe that your considering the Media and Communication TAFE programs as a first step in securing a place in this thriving yet ever changing industry.
