RMIT's Master of Strategic Procurement is the only postgraduate program of its kind in Victoria.
You'll position yourself for a leading procurement role and become a master of strategic planning, supplier relationship management and creative innovation.
You'll learn to deliver high returns while successfully aligning procurement with a public or private organisation's triple bottom line.
As a qualified strategic procurement specialist you'll:
- produce cost and service efficiencies for commercial advantage
- apply your knowledge in market analysis, strategic sourcing, category management, organisational behaviour, business performance and spend analysis
- make decisions in the context of long-term environmental and social trends associated with strategic sourcing.
Duration
1.5 years full-time or 3 years part-time
International student visa holders can only study full-time.
Program structure and features
Learning and teaching
RMIT's new Swanston Academic Building offers interactive lecture and tutorial spaces, lectorial theatres, small-group rooms and other innovative spaces.
RMIT offers a variety of learning and teaching approaches including lectures, seminars, studios, workshops, presentations, group discussions and syndicate work. These are primarily in English.
You will have access to the Learning Hub and other online and digital resources through the myRMIT student portal.
Ongoing assessment throughout the semester includes examinations, essays, reports, oral classes, presentations, group projects, research projects, laboratory projects and practical assignments.
Program structure
The program consists of 144 credit points, which generally equal 12 courses (of 12 credit points each).
You'll do a compulsory work-integrated learning course IT Project Management, 2 capstone research projects and electives like study tours.

Guiding the development of the College of Business, both nationally and internationally, is an Industry Advisory Board of high-profile executives chaired by Gerhard Vorster, Chief Strategy Officer, Deloitte. The Board creates a strategic bridge between the latest in technology and design thinking and business.
The market need for this program was recognised by a partnership between the Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN) and the Australasian Procurement and Construction Council (APCC). As part of the ATN, RMIT's specialist Masters program is part of a suite of options available Australia-wide that provides full credit transfer if your career takes you interstate during your studies.

Int are a unique feature of the program allowing you to combine an overseas travel and cultural experience with the completion of either a 12 or 24 credit point course in intensive mode.
Each year, the School of Business IT and Logistics conducts tours to the USA, China, Vietnam and Canada in partnership with the University of Maryland, Fudan University, Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade, RMIT Vietnam and Ryerson University.

Program entry requirements
Completion of an Australian Bachelor degree or equivalent in any discipline with a minimum 50% average/Pass or GPA 1.0 (out of 4.0).
Prerequisites
Applicants may be considered based on work experience and any additional tertiary education.

To study this program you will need to complete one of the following English proficiency tests:
- Academic IELTS (minimum scores) overall band of 6.5 with no individual band below 6.0
- TOEFL (Paper-based): minimum score of 580 (with a Test of Written English (TWE) score of 4.5)
- TOEFL (Internet-based): minimum score of 92 with a minimum of 20 in each section
- Cambridge English (Advanced CAE): CAE Grade B
- Pearson: Minimum score of 58 (no band less than 50).
