Course Description

This course will introduce you to key project administration processes and tools that are required for effective project administration. Specifically, this course examines:
• Concepts and tools essential for successfully executing a project and to perform effective administration of the project.
• Administration requirements of a project.
• Knowledge and tools required to support the project documentation/correspondence/administration process.

Extensive use will be made of project administration and management software.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

This course contributes to the following BH112 program learning outcomes:  

  • PLO1: Determine and apply knowledge of complex project management theory to your professional practice and/or further study 
  • PLO2: Professionally communicate to a range of audiences, demonstrating in depth knowledge of the discipline and of the needs of diverse project management stakeholders 
  • PLO3: Formulate evidence-based solutions to industry problems or issues through the application of logical, critical and creative thinking, and the analysis, synthesis and application of theoretical, digital, human and technical skills. 

If you are taking this course as an option course or as part of a minor, this course will complement the learning outcomes you are developing in your program.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

CLO1: Identify the concepts and tools required for successful and effective administration of projects

CLO2: Utilise project management and administration software to administer projects

CLO3: Interpret and analyse project schedules and progress plans and reports

CLO4: Produce project documentation and correspondence for dissemination to project stakeholders

You will learn through a series of online lectures and face-to-face workshops. Learning activities in this course include exercises, class discussions, group work and computer-based activities.

Task 2: Semester Project Part 1, 13%, CLOs covered by this assessment:  CLO1, CLO2, CLO4

Task 3: Semester Project Part 2, 32%, CLOs covered by this assessment: CLO1, CLO2, CLO3, CLO4

Task 4: Exam, 40%, CLOs covered by this assessment: CLO1, CLO2, CLO3, CLO4
