There are no pre-requisite for this course. Knowledge of probability concepts, though not critical, would be useful.
Course Description
This course introduces the notion of risk in logistics management and strategic decision making. It is designed to develop an understanding of the fundamentals of risk management and to introduce classical as well as state-of-the-art risk analysis techniques. The potential of system thinking as a risk management tool will be emphasised.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:
CLO1. Apply advanced system concepts to investigate complex risk problems in different business contexts. CLO2. Utilize professional judgement to design, implement and execute risk management processes within different business environments. CLO3. Apply critical analysis and reflection to develop cost-effective risk management measures to deal with risk problems. CLO4. Demonstrate an advanced and integrated understanding of the merits and limitations of popular risk management techniques used in practice to make informed decisions. CLO5. Independently synthesize a combination of popular risk analysis techniques innovatively to examine complex business risk problems.Overview of Learning Activities
Learning will occur through the use of the Study Guide as an indicator of learning direction, including on-line library articles and wed-sites. This activity is to complement the Intensive Workshop Session, during which the Instructor will expand on the principles introduced in the Study Guide and illustrate the application of the key constructs to logistics and supply chain operations.
