Course Description

This course provides important knowledge and skills for the applied scientist who needs to monitor and improve the quality of service or industrial processes. The course includes extensive use of various statistical computing software to analysis and evaluate the performance of services.

This course is an option course and will broadly contribute to the development of your program learning outcomes.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:  

  1. Elucidate techniques and concepts of Statistical Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Performance Analysis and Multi stream process control.
  2. Construct the appropriate Quality Control charts / Forecasting and critically discuss the role of such charts / models in monitoring a process.
  3. Assess the ability of a process to meet customer expectations.
  4. Develop an appropriate quality assurance plan to assess the ability of the service to meet its required national and international quality standard.


Overview of Learning Activities

  • Lectures where underlying theory will be presented.
  • Regular computer laboratory class that will reinforce the material covered in   lectures and independent study.
  • Assignments to practice the usage of software packages.
