Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities
This is an intermediate level Entrepreneurship course. You are expected to have an understanding of accounting concepts. You should be able to discuss and apply general techniques of cost and management accounting, and compile and use basic general-purpose financial reports in business decision-making. Analytical capabilities relating to multiple legal issues are also important.
Course Description
This course examines the core concepts of entrepreneurial finance. You will gain an appreciation of the various sources of funding available to start-ups and growing ventures. You will explore various issues relating to: How to work with various types of investors; and consider the choice of appropriate exit strategies. You will explore various issues relating to financial planning, time value of money, risks and capital budgeting.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:
CLO 1: Develop an in-depth understanding of entrepreneurial finance principles on raising capital.
CLO 2: Examine short-term and long-term financial needs of entrepreneurial ventures to ensure viability and sustainability of the business.
CLO 3: Identify and evaluate appropriate exit strategies.
CLO 4: Adapt knowledge of the financial and legal requirements for creation and growth of entrepreneurial ventures.

In this course you will be encouraged to be an active learner. Your learning will be supported through various in-class and online activities comprising individual and group work. These may include quizzes; assignments; prescribed readings; sourcing, researching and analysing specific information; solving problems; conducting presentations; producing written work and collaborating with peers on set tasks or projects.
