Course Description
This course is a joint-project, co-ordinated across the four schools responsible for the Multi-Media (Design) program. The project will be identified by the course co-ordinators and jointly assessed. The project will be a full time commitment for those enrolled in it during the semester.
The work delivered can include on-going tasks in programming, multi-media design, project management, film or animation. It can be project based or as part of an on-going team/company activities.
The business focus of the work-integrated learning will include:
- developing a marketing strategy for a commercial outcome;
- work with an existing team to achieve the agreed targets on time, to the agreed standard and on budget.
- consideration to intellectual property issues
- developing and managing the project
- how effectively the project is communicated to its intended audience (through use of multi-media tools and clarity of a structured verbal presentation).
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
On completion of this Work Integrated Learning project, students will:
• Have a better appreciation of the need to consider various business factors when working on a project, such as marketing and the need for documents such as briefs, contracts, progress reports.
• A greater understanding of the need to have clear performance indicators and milestones to work to.
• A better appreciation of the need to manage one’s time effectively
• Have an understanding of benchmarks appropriate to the business or project they are working within
• Be able to demonstrate a range of enterprising capabilities including such things as how to manage change; communicating effectively with others associated with the project; review, evaluate and modify a project based on activities and circumstances as they arise

Contact hours
The initial class discussion will be focused on project identification and project management.
You will be expected to report regularly to the co-ordinators of the project. The project scope and timeline are formalised through a learning contract that you develop. You will have the support of each of the four university lecturers to assist and guide you through their respective facets of the process. Presentations will be made toward the end of the semester to the four co-ordinators of the project.
Non-contact hours
Much of the work you do in this course will be spent researching and developing your multi-media project. Presentations will be expected to be innovative, with novel use of Multi-Media in your presentations as well as a clear description of the process you took to deliver on the agreed objectives.

Overview of Assessment
This course is has a Pass (PX) or Fail (NN) grade. Assessment is based on
- the learning contract developed within the first two weeks of assessment
- work contributed to the project throughout the semester and
- the quality of the final product in achieving its aims.
