You should have satisfactorily completed 96 credit points in the Bachelor of Environment and Society (BP000) program or the Bachelor of Environmental Science/Bachelor of Environment and Society (BP193) program.
Alternatively, you may be able to demonstrate the required skills and knowledge before you start this course.

Course Description
The course provides you with the opportunity to apply research and analysis skills to the kinds of problems identified by organisations outside RMIT University. It emphasises the processes, methods and skills needed for research work and gives particular attention to the experiences of team work. Within this course you will investigate a research project that has relevance to your profession of interest.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- work collaboratively to define a project topic and review research methodologies used to examine that topic;
- critically analyse a problem presented by the project topic;
- identify the relationship between the project topic and relevant policy frameworks and/or social structures;
- evaluate your personal and professional engagement with the project topic.
Overview of Learning Activities
You will be actively engaged in learning that involves a range of activities including lectures, workshops, guest presentations, group discussion, and group and individual research.
Overview of Learning Resources
RMIT will provide you with resources and tools for learning in this course through our online systems and RMIT library resources.
You will be expected to utilise library and electronic resources (as well as any other appropriate resources) to engage in the reading of academic literature. Recommended learning resources for each topic will mostly include journal articles and web resources but you will also be expected to seek further resources relevant to the focus of your own learning.

The Library provides guides on academic referencing and subject specialist help as well as a range of study support services. Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes. Assessment Tasks 1. Project Proposal (20%) (Linked to CLOs 1 and 2) 2. Case Study Project Research Task (50%) (Linked to CLOs 1, 2 and 3) 3. Personal and Professional Reflective Learning Task (30%) (Linked to CLO 4) Feedback will be given on all assessment tasks.
