Course Description

This course is designed to provide you with the opportunity to apply a range of knowledge and skills in the development and evaluation of Senior Secondary School Physical Education and Health and Human Development. The course will prepare you to teach post-compulsory physical and health education. It aims to introduce you to the structure and content of the VCE Physical Education, and Health and Human Development study designs and introduce you to the International Baccalaureate.

The course aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills to plan, teach, assess, evaluate and resource post-compulsory physical and health education. You will analyse the relationship between various teaching and student learning strategies that enhance learning at senior secondary school levels. The development and application of group skills, communication skills and the ability to examine and deliberate accurately and objectively will take place while developing curriculum as part of this course.

For those of you in BP319 Bachelor of Health, Physical Education and Sport (Secondary) this course will help you develop the program level outcomes: 

  • Demonstrate broad and coherent theoretical and technical knowledge in practical applications in Health, Physical Education and Sport
  • Analyse assessment outcomes to evaluate the impact on student learning and inform future teaching strategies
  • Communicate effectively with different stakeholders in diverse educational contexts through a range of communication modes and digital technologies 

 

For those of you in BP041P15 Bachelor of Applied Science (Health and Physical Education) this course will help you develop the program level outcomes: 

  • Develop content knowledge and how to teach it.
  • Plan and implement effective teaching and learning strategies.
  • Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning.
  • Engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers and the community
