Course Description
This course provides you with an overview of the stages of screen production. The course will reflect industry approaches and you will explore the stages of pre-production, production and post-production. You will develop short screen-based projects to investigate the various production stages. You will also examine industry procedures, resource management, health and safety, legal and ethical requirements.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
This course contributes to the following Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) of the AD017 Associate Degree in Screen and Media Production:
2. apply industry relevant knowledge and skills to devise, develop and build contemporary screen and media content for diverse audiences and contexts
3. apply and creatively adapt theoretical and technical knowlege and skills in screen and media production to your practice or future study
7. work with others in a range of roles and contexts, demonstrating cultural, environmental and social awareness.
8. apply initiative and judgement in planning, problem solving and decision making in your work or further study
Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to:
1. Identify the various stages of screen production and describe the processes and resource requirements for each stage
2. Discuss occupational health and safety procedures requirements for the various production stages and develop a risk management strategy for screen based projects
3. Identify and explain legal and ethical requirements for each stage of a production
4. Develop a production brief for a short production including identification of roles, responsibilities, budgets, and production schedules
5. Employ production management skills and knowledge in a short screen based project.
