Course Description

This course provides you with a fundamental understanding of global aspects of business and management, including international business contexts, actors and their actions. It addresses the theory and patterns of global business, as well as the macro and micro challenges in international business. This course provides a broad view of various factors underlying roles and responsibilities of global business in society.  This course includes WIL activities. 


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

 This course contributes to the following Program Learning Outcomes for AD029 Associate Degree in Business:  
PLO1: Explain your role as a local, national and global citizen and be able to apply these perspectives in a range of business contexts.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:

CLO1: Articulate core concepts and theories concerning the global business environment and 
           multinational enterprises that engage in international operations.

CLO2: Critically analyse current events in the global business environment, and strategy and 
           operations of multinational enterprises by applying relevant conceptual frameworks and 
           theories.

CLO3: Demonstrate improved skills in research, teamwork, problem solving and 
           communication.

CLO4: Enhance readiness to practise management beyond your specific national contexts


Overview of Learning Activities

You will explore international business practices, challenges and trends in lectures, readings, case studies and class discussions. You will undertake problem solving activities in class both individually and in groups using appropriate analytical skills.

A range of activities in a simulated or real work situations will also be provided that provide opportunities to work as a team and case studies will be used to critically examine the major international business actors and their behaviour in the contemporary context.
