Course Description

In this course you will create photographic work using relevant conceptual and technical theories to demonstrate complex visual understandings. You will explore the theories and principles that are relevant to the theme of the studio. You will have the opportunity to apply professional level knowledge and skill to produce the work that you have conceptualised. You will also investigate the relationship between your work and global visual culture.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:

  • Apply a body of theoretical and practical knowledge and specific skills in your discipline in which to base your professional practice or future study
  • Critically analyse, synthesize and reflect on your discipline in both local and international contexts
  • Demonstrate creativity, critical thinking and innovation when identifying and solving problems in diverse contexts within the discipline
  • Work with others in a range of roles and contexts, demonstrating cultural, environmental and social awareness and ethical and reflective practice 

 


Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Initiate and undertake an independent study to produce a body of visual work.
  2. Produce work that demonstrates creative, investigative and technical knowledge and skill to a professional standard.
  3. Present your work in a professional manner.
  4. Critically analyse your own creative work and the work of others.

The studio will be presented through a variety of activities including workshops, experimentation, lectures, critical analysis, discussion, practice, presentation and reflection.

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes. Assessment will include:
