Course Description
In this course you will examine the theory and practice of curating and exhibiting communication design. The course addresses the broader history of curatorial practice as well as contemporary discourse in the field, with a focus upon the particular challenges and debates surrounding the exhibition of communication design.
You will assess the practical considerations that inform exhibition design. You will develop an exhibition proposal that is informed by past practice, contemporary debates and practical demands, and you will plan and implement a communication design exhibition.

You will be assessed on your development against the following program learning outcomes:
- Professionally communicate propositions, processes and outcomes to address specialist and non-specialist audiences.
- Provide leadership within your discipline as well as collaborate with others.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Critically discuss the history and current discourse regarding the curation and exhibition of communication design.
- Explain and defend curatorial proposals and exhibition concepts, in specialist terms and to general audiences.
- Plan and implement curated exhibitions of communication design.
- Design and install innovative exhibitions, using advanced technical knowledge and skills.

This course takes a blended approach in its delivery. The course focuses upon project-based learning, and you will be actively engaged in a range of activities including studios, seminars, face-to-face and online class discussions, group activities and individual research.

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes. Assessment may include studio projects, group work, presentations and critiques.
