Course Description

This is a Work Integrated Learning course which prepares you for placement and future employment through a combination of:

  • workshops on topics important to your future position as a pharmaceutical scientist including writing a good resume, preparing for interview, and professional presentation
  • discussions on completing background research of organizations and interpreting position descriptions
  • working in teams to practice and critique presentation and interviews

This course includes a work integrated learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/ or community is integral to your experience.

This course contributes to the following Program Learning Outcomes for Pharmaceutical Sciences BP311:

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Present yourself in both written and oral form that showcases your qualifications and education, experience and skills,
  2. Recognize through investigation and research an organisation's role within the health and pharmaceutical industry and their requirements in terms of skills and experience for individual positions,
  3. Understand the level of professionalism required for placement and employment,
  4. Present yourself for interview in the best prepared and professional light,
  5. Work effectively in a team environment.


Overview of Learning Activities

You will be actively engaged in a range of learning activities such as lectorials, tutorials, practicals, laboratories, seminars, project work, class discussion, individual and group activities. Delivery may be face to face, online or a mix of both.

You are encouraged to be proactive and self-directed in your learning, asking questions of your lecturer and/or peers and seeking out information as required, especially from the numerous sources available through the RMIT library, and through links and material specific to this course that is available through myRMIT Studies Course.
