Course Description

This course explores historical early childhood perspectives and practices and compares this to contemporary trends in policy and practice. You will consider how the history of early childhood services aligns and/or contrasts with contemporary policy priorities and notions of best practice. You will draw on research, practical expertise and policy from local and international contexts to investigate and analyse the assumptions that embed contemporary early childhood curriculum frameworks, pedagogy and policy governance. By focusing on recent topical initiatives and trends in early childhood education and care, this course strengthens your professional pedagogy and capacity for professional engagement with contemporary issues in your every day practices, and the field more broadly.
