Course Description

In this course you will work in a team on a project that sits at the intersection of design, art, technology and science to identify and develop a solution for a critical sustainable or ethical issue within the fashion industry. You will develop skills for project management and understanding team dynamics, including strategies for conflict resolution. Through this project you will reflect on your interpersonal skills and how you work with others.

Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

Program Learning Outcomes 

In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:

PLO2: Critically analyse, synthesise and reflect on sustainable innovation in both local and international contexts.

PLO4: Communicate using diverse formats and strategies with stakeholders within and external to your discipline.

PLO5: Work with others in a range of roles and contexts, demonstrating cultural, environmental and social awareness and ethical and reflective practice.

PLO6: Apply initiative and judgement in planning, problem solving and decision making in your practice or future study.

Course Learning outcomes 

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

CLO 1: Propose, develop, plan a team project in response to project brief.

CLO 2: Generate, test and compare multiple solutions to allow for the comparison of different project outcomes.

CLO3: Discuss, reflect upon and understand your personal approach to engagement, collaboration and teamwork.

CLO 4: Identify and apply effective strategies for working with others, and practice giving and receiving constructive feedback.

Overview of Learning Activities

Your learning will be facilitated via a range of in-class and online activities that will require both individual and collaborative engagement. Class activities will promote your ability to propose, investigate, plan, analyse, and realise sustainable innovative fashion and textile solutions.

A list of recommended learning resources will be provided by your lecturer, including books, journal articles and web resources. You will also be expected to seek further resources relevant to the focus of your own learning.

Overview of Assessment

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes. Assessment tasks are directly aligned with each Course Learning Outcome. They are as follows:

Assessment Tasks

Assessment Task 1: Project proposal & pitch (30%) CLO 1 and CLO 4

Assessment Task 2: Group project (40%) CLO 1, CLO 2 and CLO 4

Assessment Task 3: Individual reflection (30%) CLO 3 and CLO 4

Feedback will be given on all assessment tasks.
