Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities
Recommended Prior Study
If you are completing this course as part of the Textiles and Material Design minor, you should have satisfactorily completed 'GRAP2816 Introduction to Textiles Materials' before you commence this course.
Course Description
In this course, you will explore knitted and looped textile design creation through hands-on making, developing skills such as crochet, hand and machine knitting. You will gain an overview of contemporary, cultural and historical perspectives of both hand-crafted and industrial practices to inform your design ideas.
Through the exploration of materiality, colour, and structure, you will apply innovative methods to create knitted and looped textiles. You will expand your design thinking for the application of these textiles to contexts such as interior/exterior spaces, body and experiences, in response to your area of interest.
