Successful completion of GRAP2645 Advanced Fashion Materials, Techniques and Expressions.
Alternatively, you may be able to demonstrate the required skills and knowledge before you start this course.
Course Description
In this course you will realise a masters fashion design preliminary project which may include a variety of design outcomes to aptly express your fashion design practice.
Through the application of development from the previous semester you will refine and resolve advanced fashion materials, techniques and expressions that may involve collaboration with other disciplines specific to your context of practice.
You will be required to revise communication and production of outcomes and continually plan and manage in detail the series of outcomes, techniques, materials, methods and collaborations applicable to realising your project.
You will work through a structured series of dynamic simulated practice learning experiences designed to assist you in managing and producing your own design project and developing strategies for future independent design practice and further research.

In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:
PLO1: Demonstrate extensive, advanced and specialised knowledge of fashion design its related disciplines and emerging global markets
PLO2: Develop critical and ethical design strategies to practice and communicate your advanced knowledge of fashion in a global context
PLO3: Determine and apply the specialist knowledge and technical skills required to creatively solve problems, demonstrating independent expert judgment and ethical responsibility relating to your professional practice in broader fashion systems.
Course Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
CLO1: Apply advanced fashion materials, techniques and expressions research to realise a series of fashion design prototypes and artefacts as a mid-masters project body of work
CLO2: Advance design methods and visual mediums to express fashion in a specified design or cross-disciplinary context
CLO3: Critically evaluate the relationship between fashion design practice and research and the social and cultural context of design
CLO4: Complete the research, production and presentation of your mid-masters fashion design project both individually and collaboratively within the field of fashion design as well as within a cross-disciplinary context.
Overview of Learning Activities
Your learning will be facilitated via a range of in-class and online activities, workshops and supervision meetings that will require both individual and collaborative engagement. Class activities promote your ability to explore design, investigate, analyse and understand fashion practice.

Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed on how well you meet the courses learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes. Assessment tasks are directly aligned with each Course Learning Outcome. They are as follows: Assessment Task 1: EXPERIMENTAL PROTOTYPES/BODIES Application of materials/ objects/ things to body/garment/space 40% CLOs: 1, 2 Assessment Task 2: INSTALLATION - Live presentation of completed body of work in an imagined space relevant to your project outcomes and cross-disciplinary contexts 40% CLOs: 2, 3, 4 Assessment Task 3: CV/CATALOGUE - Production of a folio that could be applied to a competition, job interview, press pack, internship, online Instagram portfolio 20% CLOs: 3, 4 Feedback will be given on all assessment tasks.
