Course Description
In this course you will integrate your learning in the Graduate Certificate in Career Education and Development to demonstrate your skills and knowledge in career practice contexts. You will explore career assessment, its relationship to career development theory and ethical use. You will learn about and apply design approaches to solve real life career practice problems, including collaborating with others to explore new and authentic ways of working through career and work life challenges.

Program Learning Outcomes
- Develop theoretical and technical knowledge in careers practice, employability solutions and life design
- Apply design thinking strategies and narrative career counselling in conjunction with CICA professional competencies to develop client focussed outcomes
- Apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, ethical practice, well-developed judgement, adaptability and responsibility as a practitioner or learner
- Demonstrate customised approaches to engage and communicate with a range of clients and complex issues in diverse settings
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
1. Select and describe career assessments aligned with career theory and ethically apply these to specific career practice contexts.
2. Critically evaluate career assessments with reference to theory and research support, properties and usefulness for contemporary careers practice.
3. Evaluate human-centred design thinking processes with regard to careers practice.
4. Use design thinking approaches to critically reflect on social, economic, environmental and cultural issues and reframe contemporary workplace and careers practice challenges

Learning activities include:
- Engagement in online learning activities including discussions, activities and webinars
- Review of relevant literature
- Self-directed research on topics linked to assessment tasks
- Reflection and analysis of your practice in terms of how it relates to professional standards

Overview of Assessment
Assignments are intended to develop key concepts, theories, and practices associated with the CICA professional competencies, as reflected by the course learning outcomes.
Assignments are competency-based, unweighted, and must be completed satisfactorily to pass this course. Submission dates are indicated in the Part B and Assignments section in the University learning management system.
You will be assessed on how well you meet the course learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes.
Assessment Tasks:
1. Create a video (8-10 minutes) that integrates career theory, assessment, education and career counselling
