Course Description
This course introduces the applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in logistics and supply chain operations. It provides a broader understanding of the principles and techniques in AI types, design and implementation from a supply chain perspective. Contemporary concepts and state-of-the-art technologies in the field, such as artificial neural network and machine learning, will be explained. Case studies will be used to illustrate the concepts and approaches to leveraging AI in the full spectrum of supply chain operations.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
.
At the successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
CLO1: Investigate the fundamentals of AI technologies.
CLO2: Explore the potential use of AI to design efficient Supply Chain Management operations.
CLO3: Apply AI technologies to streamline supply chain operations in their end-to-end processes.
CLO4: Suggest improvements to increase the effectiveness of AI in managing Supply Chain 4.0 eco-system.
Overview of Learning Activities
In this course you will be encouraged to be an active learner. Your learning will be supported through various learning activities. These may include quizzes; assignments; prescribed readings; sourcing, researching and analysing specific information; solving problems; conducting presentations; producing written work and collaborating with peers on set tasks or projects.
Overview of Learning Resources
Various learning resources are available online through MyRMIT Studies/Canvas. The lecture notes and workshop notes are posted on Canvas.
RMIT Library provides extensive resources, services and study spaces. All RMIT students have access to scholarly resources including course related material, books, e-books, journals and databases.
Computers and printers are available at every Library. You can access the Internet and Library e-resources. You can also access the RMIT University wireless network in the Library.
Contact: Ask the Library for assistance and information on Library resources and services: http://www.rmit.edu.au/library. Study support is available for assistance with assignment preparation, academic writing, information literacy, referencing, maths and study skills. Additional resources and/or sources to assist your learning will be identified by your course coordinator and will be made available to you as required during the teaching period.
Overview of Assessment
Assessment in this course will be directed to increasing your ability to assess the applicability of AI in facilitating and enhancing logistics and supply chain operations and related processes. This will be achieved through the completion of three assessment tasks to illustrate how concepts and techniques in AI design and implementation have been utilised to advantage in practice.
Assessment Task 1: 20%
Linked CLOs: 1, 2
Assessment Task 2: 35%
Linked CLOs: 2, 3, 4
Assessment Task 3: 45%
Linked CLOs: 1, 2, 3, 4
Feedback will be provided throughout the semester in class (for on-campus students) or online (for RMIT online students), through feedback on practical exercises and consultation.
