Course Description
This course is designed to assist you to develop comprehensive knowledge and global perspective required to work in firms operating in and/or doing business with countries in the Asian region. You will acquire a deeper understanding of the socio-cultural, political, economic, and technological factors that influence firms’ market entry strategies, operations, and performance in the global business environment, with a specific focus on Asia. Throughout the course, you will apply fundamental concepts and theories to business scenarios in the Asian context. The key themes covered in this course include economics, culture, governance, business, strategy, and marketing. The course will equip you with the knowledge and skills for your future business engagement and career success, particularly in the context of the Asian market.

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
CLO 1: Explain key business practices and economic principles in the Asian context.
CLO 2: Critically analyse and evaluate macro and micro issues influencing the success of firms doing business in and/or with countries in Asia.
CLO 3: Analyse the differences and similarities of the business strategies and management approaches between Asian and Western firms and their managers.
CLO 4: Evaluate knowledge models and theoretical concepts and adapt them to different scenarios.
CLO 5: Collaborate effectively in teams to demonstrate attributes desired by employers in a real-world context, including cross-cultural communication and negotiation skills.
Overview of Learning Activities
A range of individual and group activities are designed to help you achieve your learning outcomes. These may include lectures and tutorials, group discussions, practical case analysis, individual study and research. While there will be some lectures by the course lecturers and guest lecturers, much of the class time will be devoted to discussing specific topics in small groups and among the class as a whole. Presentation and case project by students may be required as part of the learning process.
