Course Description
This course directs you towards advanced global business topics and offers you the opportunity to integrate your learning to address complex strategic and managerial issues faced by firms competing internationally. Topics of the course relate to, for example, internationalisation process, multinational corporations (MNCs) strategy and structure, parent-subsidiary relationships, ethical dilemma, small- and medium-sized firms, services firms, and emerging markets. The course places emphasis on student’s analytical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to build logical arguments. For example, the assessments will require you not only to apply concepts and theories but investigate real-world cases, such as critique on companies’ decisions and proposing solutions to problems. The course will equip you with knowledge and skills that are essential for you to start your career in today’s fasting evolving global market.

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
CLO 1: Apply concepts and theories relating to strategy and management in the world of global business.
CLO 2: Analyse critically the dynamic situation faced by firms competing internationally and identify options for managers.
CLO 3: Evaluate firm decisions on global strategy and management and substantiate your arguments with empirical evidence and relevant theories.
CLO 4: Demonstrate research skills in collecting empirical data and synthesising it with theories of global strategy and management.
CLO 5: Collaborate with peers and communicate clearly and confidently your thoughts on issues of global business.
Overview of Learning Activities
In this course, you will be encouraged to be an active learner. Your learning will be supported through various in-class and on-site activities comprising individual and group work. These may include quizzes; assignments; prescribed readings; sourcing, researching and analysing specific information; solving problems, conducting presentations, producing written work and collaborating with peers on set tasks or projects.
