Course Description
This course explores leadership dynamics at individual, team, and organisational levels, focusing on how leaders navigate complex challenges, foster inclusive environments, and drive organisational change. You will develop critical and adaptive leadership skills to lead diverse teams, resolve conflicts productively, and create high-performing, innovative organisations. You will examine how cultural and diversity frameworks shape leadership identity and organisational effectiveness, applying evidence-based strategies to promote collaboration, agility, and ethical decision-making. Additionally, you will evaluate the impact of emerging technologies and sustainability challenges on leadership and commerce, preparing to lead in dynamic and globally connected environments. As part of the Leadership and Strategy major and minor, this course equips you with the skills to diagnose organisational challenges, implement inclusive leadership practices, and design adaptive strategies for navigating change.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to: CLO1: Analyse and apply key leadership theories, models, and frameworks to diagnose and address organisational challenges at individual, team, and organisational levels within diverse commerce contexts. CLO2: Compare and evaluate the influence of personal, social, and cultural factors on leadership identity, team dynamics, and organisational effectiveness, fostering an inclusive and high-performing environment. CLO3: Collaborate effectively in teams, integrating intercultural competence, ethical reasoning, and adaptive leadership approaches to generate sustainable and strategic organisational outcomes. CLO4: Design and theorize evidence-based leadership strategies to navigate organisational change, incorporate emerging technologies, and advocate for ethical, social, and economic sustainability in leadership and strategy.
Overview of Learning Activities
This course is delivered as a blend of face-to-face activities and online learning. Learning will be supported through in-class and online activities such as: personal development activities, guest speakers/expert commentators, case studies, prescribed readings, practical tasks, seeking and providing peer feedback, and reflective praxis.
