Course Description
This course will introduce you to the digital economy. You will explore new technologies and how they interact to create economic challenges and opportunities. Advances in artificial intelligence and both centralised and decentralised digital platforms are important foci of this course. You will learn fundamental economic tools and how to apply them across various dimensions of the digital economy including markets, firms, government and civil society.
This course is a component of the Digital Economy major and minor.

This course contributes to the following Program Learning Outcomes for the MC288 Master of Commerce:
Critically analyse contemporary business issues, integrating technological, ethical, and sustainability concerns in local, national, and global business contexts.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:
CLO 1:Identify and evaluate, as an individual or part of group, key economic principles driving the digital economy
CLO2: Analyse socio-economic implications of the digital economy such as: privacy, security and ethical and social challenges in the digital economy
CLO3: Apply different digital business models to solve economic problems
CLO4: Analyse digital economy information using economic analysis

The course is delivered face-to-face and online. You are expected to be an active participant in class. Your learning will be supported through in class and online activities. These may include quizzes; assignments; prescribed readings; researching and analysing specific information; solving problems; and producing written work.
