Course Description

This course provides you with the opportunity to build and develop management, business and leadership skills that are essential for effective physiotherapy practice. You will engage with interdisciplinary frameworks to appraise issues in the health sector and apply business and design thinking to explore and forge solutions to everyday problems. The principles of managing and leading teams to achieve outcomes in diverse health settings will be a focus within this course. You will also be challenged to develop an entrepreneurial mindset that incorporates creativity, innovation and critical thinking for work readiness in an ever-evolving world.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) 

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:  

  1. Identify business and design thinking principles and skills that can be used to innovate solutions or improve services within the health sector.
  2. Discuss strategies and systems, including those involving digital health and technology, for the effective management of both patients and teams within the healthcare context.
  3. Apply leadership and management principles to real-world scenarios within the healthcare context, focusing on responsible practice and ethical considerations in these roles.
  4. Reflect on the application of personal cultural identity and the values of respect, inclusion, and responsible practice within the health context, emphasising their significance and implications.
