Global Communication Skills - International Education Professionals (GCS-IEP) is the first of a series of online professional development courses from RMIT Training, helping international staff in the international education sector to develop the intercultural skills to communicate more effectively and confidently with others both professionally and socially.

Getting Together is the fourth theme in the GCS-IEP program and focuses on cross-cultural communication skills, negotiation and dealing with conflict.

This course is designed for upper intermediate to advanced English speakers (IELTS 5 and above).

Content

In Navigating Differences, you will learn how to communicate successfully in situations where, for example, cultural differences, diverse needs and differing points of view can create conflict. This theme explores how to deal with challenging situations, how to influence peers, clients and providers, and how to effectively negotiate in order to reach the best outcome. This theme is for international education professionals who want to develop skills in handling potentially difficult situations tactfully, professionally, and with positive results.

In this theme, you will develop skills in

  • recognising cross-cultural differences in business
  • dealing with conflict situations more confidently
  • influencing peers and clients
  • using strategies and techniques to negotiate successfully.
