Get hands-on in RMIT's Tech and Trade facilities for free!

Explore next-level workshops at RMIT's Tech and Trades Experience Day in the July school holidays. Walk in the shoes of a student for a day and experience what it's like to learn an IT, tech or trade course.  

If you're a high school student in Year 10, 11 or 12, as well as parents/guardians, this event is for you. Not only is it free, it's also a great chance to get a glimpse of what tech and trade courses are really like at RMIT. 

The workshops at the Experience Day will have tech something for everyone, no matter what IT tech course or trade course you're interested in. With everything from cyber security to carpentry, the event gives you a chance to explore your interests and passions.  

When you register, you'll get the chance to choose two of the hands-on workshops we'll be running at Tech and Trades Experience Day, so consider your options and choose the workshops that spark your interest the most. 

In addition to getting practical with tools from trade courses and the tech of tomorrow, you'll also get a chance to chat with your future teachers and win prizes. If you're a parent/guardian this is a great chance to connect with staff and industry guests to learn about the opportunities at RMIT and how you can support your teen as they consider what their future holds.

Explore the cutting-edge tech used in the field by surveyors. This workshop lets you get hands-on with mapping equipment that laser scans and creates 3D models of landscapes.

This workshop is your introduction to designing a visually stunning and easily accessible webpage. Take a glimpse behind the screen and discover what it's like to design digital spaces like a professional. 

Discover what it takes to build a tiny home in a workshop that'll leave a huge impression. Explore the fundamentals of designing a sustainable tiny house and the building principles behind them. 

We all need a bit of structure – this workshop is your chance to find out why. Discover why experimentation is crucial when modelling the beams and trusses that hold up our most important structures. 

Explore everything from circuits to simulations in this workshop that lets you get hands-on with electrical engineering. Get a glimpse of how the hardware in everyday tech really works – and how electronics keep the lights on. 

This workshop is the perfect opportunity to explore the field of plumbing and get hands-on experience with the tools of the trade. Learn the art of installing water systems and how to gain plumbing expertise at RMIT. 

From fashioning furniture to building abodes, this workshop shows you how to transform reclaimed wood into beautiful and functional pieces through hands-on woodworking exercises. 

Learn what it takes to keep buildings cold, hot and everything in-between. This workshop lets you get hands-on with the tools that enable heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration. 

Create electrical wiring and circuitry in this hands-on workshop. Explore the world of electrical technology and discover how working with electro-tech will spark your passion.
