Help us set the stage for new creative possibilities at The Capitol by supporting the return of this unique instrument to its original home.
Making her grand entrance in 1924 accompanying the silent film The Ten Commandments, Eliza – as this incredible machine is affectionately known – is an important and beloved part of the theatre's history.
Eliza was relocated to the Dendy Cinemas, Brighton, more than 50 years ago when cinema flourished over theatre. But now the 1,000-pipe mahogany beauty is ready to return to her rightful place – in the spotlight at The Capitol.
Your gift today will help start a new chapter for this magnificent instrument. With your support, we can introduce Eliza to new audiences and develop new opportunities for our creative industries.
As the Melbourne community celebrates The Capitol’s 100th anniversary, the time is right to bring Eliza home and complete the restoration of one of our city’s most remarkable venues.
Please give now to support the Wurlitzer Organ Appeal and bring this important piece of history back home to The Capitol.
You can have complete confidence that 100 per cent of your gift goes to the Wurlitzer Organ Appeal and gifts of over $2 are tax deductible in Australia.
