Conversations About Life, Health, and Safety (Play It Safe)

Three interactive training scenarios about communication between construction supervisors and apprentices.

Funded by icare, this training resource is an RPG (role-playing game) in which players make communication-based decisions on virtual construction sites. The training demonstrates how open and respectful communication results in positive health and safety outcomes in construction workplaces.

The training is comprised of three scenarios which focus on different areas of communication. Each scenario has several possible outcomes which are determined by the decisions of the player.

This project was created in partnership with icare, The Australian National University, the Master Builders Association of New South Wales, and the Centre for Work Health and Safety. Characters and background environments were brought to life by the Deakin Motion Lab using motion capture technology.

The training can be played on any computer or mobile device. To open the video in a new window, click here.
