Lathe Jones
Dr. Lathe A. Jones is a lecturer in the School of Applied Sciences (RMIT, City Campus), and Deputy Director of the Centre for Advanced Materials and Industrial Chemistry (CAMIC).
Research interests
Applied Chemistry (Industrial Chemistry, Minerals Chemistry) and Electrochemistry (Electrodeposition and Catalysis).
Dr. Jones currently supervises 6 postgraduate students in these areas and Inquiries about PhD projects are welcome.
Recent Projects and Funding are listed below, including involvement in attracting more than $1.5M in funding from Industry in the last 4 years (in collaboration with other scientists at RMIT):
- Advanced Studies on the Hydrometallurgy and Electrochemistry of Primary Copper Sulphide Ores (LP13010091). Rio Tinto, Murdoch University, Monash University ($400K Industry cash, $615K ARC, 2013-16, >$1.1 M).
- Studies of factors that lead to benzene emission from Alumina calcination stacks (BHP Billiton Worsley).
- Studies on the physical chemistry of Bayer liquors (BHP Billiton Worsley)
- Surface studies of mineral ores by Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy (SECM) (BHP Billiton)
- Electrodeposition of porous materials for catalysis and sensing.
- Surface chemistry and morphological control of electrodeposited metals and alloys.
