There may be other expenses associated with your study in addition to tuition fees.
Below is infomation about the types of fees, charges and fines you may encounter while studying at RMIT. All students studying at RMIT must also pay student services and amenities fee (SSAF).
Note: This fee information applies to local and international students.
Depending on the course you are studying, RMIT may purchase goods and materials on your behalf for use in your studies, such as design supplies, field trips, specialised equipment and other resources. RMIT then charges fees to supply these materials to you.
The material fees set by RMIT are not compulsory* if you choose to purchase your items independently.
Materials fees are only collected with your consent - you will only be charged if you agree to have RMIT purchase these materials on your behalf by completing and signing the Voluntary materials and other fees form.
The materials fees associated with the course or subject you are studying are made available before the start of the academic year. RMIT makes every effort to ensure that materials fees are kept to a minimum and are competitive with alternative suppliers.
All of RMIT's materials fees are compliant with the strict government guidelines the University must abide by and the fees are reviewed each year on your behalf by the RMIT Student Union.
*Excludes materials fees for flight training which are compulsory, see full information below.
Select your course from the dropdown list below to see the associated materials fees. Fees displayed are inclusive of GST.

Detailed information about these fees is available on the materials fees schedule and on the individual program pages.
Applicable to both local and international students.
You will be charged a specific tuition fee for each course in the program. Where you complete flight training as part of a course of study, the tuition fee includes the cost of the standard number of flying hours required to achieve the necessary competencies for that course.
In some situations, you may require additional training above the standard allotted flying hours for a course to achieve competency. When this occurs, you will be charged materials fees to cover the cost of the additional flight training provided. These fees are detailed within the materials fee schedule and on the Associate Degree in Aviation (Professional Pilots) program page.
