RMIT has had a presence in Hong Kong since the University first partnered with the Hong Kong Arts Centre in 1998.  At that time the College of Design and Social Context (DSC), along with the Hong Kong Arts School, began offering a Bachelor of Fine Art and Masters of Fine Art.

Just five years later in 2003, the STEM College, along with the College of DSC, commenced their partnership with Vocation Training Council School of Higher Professional Education (VTC SHAPE), offering courses in engineering, aviation and construction management.

That same year, the College of Business and Law began a partnership with the prestigious Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, who at the time were headquartered in Hong Kong to offer their highly sought after in-house Executive MBA program for senior level management.

On Monday 16 October, representatives from the three partners along with Hong Kong and Australian government officials, RMIT alumni and staff recognised these anniversaries at the residence of the outgoing Australian Consul-General Ms. Elizabeth Ward.

The week of celebrations also included the graduations for HKAC and VTC SHAPE, VTC SHAPE Civil Engineering Industry Forum, the opening of the prestigious HKAC Collectible Art Fair and a series of governance meetings with all three partners.

Executive Director International, Layton Pike, said RMIT was proud to have partnered in Hong Kong’s engineering, arts and business sectors across the past 25 years.

“Seven and a half thousand graduates from our partnerships have since made significant contributions in their communities both here in Hong Kong, and across the region, he said.

“None of this would have been possible without the commitment and hard work of our counterparts at VTC SHAPE, Hong Kong Arts Centre, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group and RMIT staff.”
