Renowned Broadcaster Zan Rowe joins RMIT

RMIT University has appointed broadcaster Zan Rowe as an Industry Adjunct Associate Professor with the School of Media and Communication.

An alumnus of the University’s Bachelor of Communication Media program, Rowe is an accomplished and highly respected figure in the realms of radio, television, music journalism and podcasting.

As an Industry Adjunct Associate Professor she will inform and collaborate with RMIT's Media, Journalism and Music Industry programs.

The role comes with several key responsibilities including engagement with students and staff, advising on curriculum development and providing important industry insight.

In this capacity, Rowe’s involvement will help ensure that Media & Communication programs remain at the cutting edge of industry trends and skill requirements, and foster knowledge sharing through guest talks, presentations and attendance at RMIT events.

Rowe will also contribute to the enhancement of work-integrated learning opportunities, enabling students to gain hands-on experience in their chosen fields and continue to bridge the gap between academia and real-world media practices.

“RMIT kickstarted my broadcasting life and opened so many doors for the career that’s followed. It’s an honour to be taking on this role, and offering the mentorship I gratefully received to the next generation of media makers,” Rowe said.

Dean of Media and Communication, Professor Lisa French, said this appointment further enhanced RMIT’s commitment to delivering excellence in education and industry engagement.

“We are excited to welcome Zan into the academic community and look forward to the valuable contributions she will make to the University's mission of shaping the next generation of media and communication professionals,” French said.
