Lyn Gale proves RMIT courses are for everyone, regardless of age or stage

After moving to Australia, Lyn Gale decided to enrol at RMIT, overcoming age differences and a significant hiatus from study.

Gale and her husband arrived as refugees, after fleeing the unrest in the Solomon Islands.

"We came to Australia with basically nothing - the only thing we had was our qualifications," she told The Age newspaper.

She decided to study education support at RMIT.

"I absolutely loved it – I said to my husband, 'I don’t know why I didn’t do this earlier.'"

Gale has since graduated and found full-time work in her field.

"My advice is if you decide to make a career change, just do it! There are biases, there are obstacles, there are things that might stop you from doing it.

"But if you feel within yourself you need to do, just do it."
