AUS4ASEAN: Improving Digital Readiness and Resilience

Across 2023 and 2024, the RMIT Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation successfully delivered four short course programs on Digital Readiness and Resilience to 100 ASEAN participants.

About the program

In May 2023, June 2023, November 2023 and May 2024 the Centre welcomed four separate groups comprising of 25 delegates from across the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region to Australia for two weeks of education, innovation and collaboration.

Each delegate was a recipient of an Australia Awards Scholarship, administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The scholarships aim to contribute to the development needs of Australia's partner countries in line with bilateral and regional agreements. The visiting delegates are leading professionals of the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector in their home countries.

Each short course program took place across two of Australia’s most vibrant, innovative and educational cities, Melbourne and Adelaide, which allowed for the delegates to cultivate skills and bolster their digital resilience.

Collaboration was a key theme throughout the program, mirroring the cooperative spirit of the ASEAN nations. Delegates engaged in workshops, shared best practices, and participated in collaborative projects. An approach that not only enriched the learning experience but also fostered relationships that will continue to develop beyond the program completion.

Key stakeholders

The successful delivery of these programs was not possible without a large team of industry and education specialists in the field of digital readiness in the TVET system sector.

We especially thank Brad Davies from Vector Consulting and Matthew Salier from Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre who co-led this program with RMIT Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation.

We also thank the many different guest speakers who delivered workshops, panel events and site visits.
