This special issue of Economic Papers will be published in December 2020, it was edited by Professor Roslyn Russell and Associate Professor Ashton de Silva from RMIT University’s Consumer Wellbeing Research Group.
When the idea for a Special Issue focusing on Financial Capabilities and Well-being was launched, we could not have imagined the level of financial stress that many are now facing. The year 2020 will be marked in history as the beginning of the worst economic downturn current generations will perhaps ever experience. COVID-19 has plunged the world, countries, communities, households and individuals into financial uncertainty at best and unfortunately, for many, financial devastation. Although the papers included in this special issue were prepared before COVID-19, the current and anticipated economic effects only heighten their relevance. Looking to the future, financial capabilities and well-being will be key determinants of our society’s prosperity.
For more information on the papers included in the special issue, please see the Journal’s website.
