Statement: International student caps

Statement: International student caps

RMIT supports a managed growth policy approach rather than relying on visa processing to manage migration. This approach provides international students with certainty and ensures that Australia maintains its reputation as a welcoming place to study and live.

International students travel from across the region and the world to undertake high-quality study and research opportunities in Australia. They have rich backgrounds and experiences, make a valuable contribution to our community and become cross cultural ambassadors for the nation. We believe a diverse classroom makes for a better and richer student experience.

Importantly we want to ensure equity and inclusion at our universities so that international student numbers are spread across all universities around the country.

The role of universities is to support the nation with the skills most in demand to ensure the prosperity of Australia.

A whole tertiary system approach is required with all agencies working together to respond to the needs of the sector into the future.

Our international students are an important part of the RMIT community and we will continue to advocate for them.
