Murray "goes" to Galway

The non/fictionLab’s Peta Murray had two trips to Galway in July, without leaving her desk.

Firstly, she gave a conference presentation at the International Federation for Theatre Research Annual Conference, 2021. (See: https://iftr.org/conference) Her paper, entitled The Constant Neologiser: Queering Language as a Performance for a Pa(i)ndemic proposed blogged be-musing as a performative means of persisting and pla(r)tforming, of assembling and essambling oneself in, through and around the iso-bars of The Great Pause.

A week later Peta was Galway-bound again, this time for a screening of a new documentary, The Application, at The Galway Film Fleadh. (See: https://www.galwayfilmfleadh.com) Directed by Gina Moxley, this short film draws together the experiences of five Irish and one Australian artist (Murray). All were commissioned to make video essays in response to the phenomenon of the competitive arts funding application under COVID. The film will have a further season at the Dublin Theatre Festival later this year.
