Chronic disease is now Australia’s greatest health challenge. But it can be prevented.
Conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, lung disease and obesity cause 9 out of 10 premature deaths in Australia, are a leading cause of disability, and affect how millions of Australians live their lives every day. Most of these could be prevented by targeting risk factors such as poor nutrition, smoking, harmful alcohol consumption and physical inactivity.
