Australian Composites Manufacturing CRC

Australian Composites Manufacturing CRC (ACM CRC) aims to transform Australia’s established composite technologies capability.

Australia’s presence in the global composites economy has been suppressed through an over-reliance on labour-intensive manufacturing, a lack of access to international supply and open markets and high materials transport costs. ACM CRC has been established to help break down these barriers and reposition the country’s capability with next-generation cost and technology competitiveness.

Key research areas

SoMac CRC has the following research programs:

Composite Materials

Simulation and Performance Prediction

Design and Integration

Manufacturing Processes

Education and Training Program

The CRC is committed to the qualification and training of engineers and composites professionals and strives to align the future workplace with emerging technology, safety and the evolution of work practices.

It will achieve this by:

  • Fostering undergraduate pipelines within university Partners to channel promising and engaged students towards HDR aligned to emergent industry.
  • Engaging mature qualified engineers to reskill via HDR.
  • Providing guaranteed project funding for Australian Government Research Training Program scholarship holders.
  • Providing top-up scholarships to all scholarship holders.
  • Promoting industry placement within research to increase future employability

RMIT’s Assoc Prof. Everson Kandare is the Education & Training Program Leader for the CRC Education and Training Program.
