Tip #1: Ride to uni

Did you know that commuting by bike rather than car can decrease your individual carbon emissions by a whopping 67%? Yes, that’s wheelie true!

With Bike Hubs located on our City and Bundoora campuses offering free and secure bike parking, riding to uni – even for as little as one day a week – is a simple and effective way to reduce your carbon footprint.

If you’re biking to RMIT City campus this Sustainability Week, you can get a free tune up at the Bike Hub. Sustainable transport for the win!

Tip #2: Make a sustainable fashion statement

The rapid production and consumption of textiles has a huge impact on the environment – in Australia, roughly 10kg of clothing per person ends up in landfill each year, where it can stay for hundreds of years without breaking down.

So, what’s a stylish member of Australia’s fashion capital to do? Embrace sustainable shopping!

This Sustainability Week, you can help create lasting environmental change one T-shirt at a time by shopping a range of remanufactured designs at the RMIT Store

If you’re looking for ways to reduce your textile waste, you can also exchange your old clothes for some new treasures at our pop-up Swap Shop or restore a beloved outfit at a community repair session. Now that’s a fashion statement!

Tip #3: Learn with others

Making an effort to learn, ask questions and expand your knowledge is a sure-fire way to become more sustainable. We have lots of easy, fun and social opportunities for you to get informed this Sustainability Week.

Whether you’re attending a presentation with fellow sustainability inquisitives or getting your steps up on a group walking tour of RMIT’s sustainable sites, you can enjoy a range of activities with new people while building your capabilities.
