Unlocking Career Opportunities with Open Doors Melbourne

Students joined a one-day event to connect with over 90 industry experts, community change-makers and alumni.

Hundreds of students took part in Open Doors Melbourne during the mid semester break, to develop their skills and connect with leading businesses and not-for-profit organisations in Melbourne.

Across the day, participants built new skills and connected with peers and over 90 industry experts, change-makers and alumni by joining a range of sessions in industry and on campus including:

  • Networking morning Tea (in industry)
  • Boardroom brunch (in industry) 
  • Micro internship (in industry)
  • Design your future (on campus)
  • Speed mentoring (on campus)
  • What employers want (in industry)
  • Impact in action (in industry)
  • The power of non for profits (on campus)
  • Alumni tell all (on campus)
  • Rock your Career sessions (on campus)

Students had opportunities to participate in events throughout the day, networking with professionals and alumni whilst gaining valuable experience.

Events and activities ranged from seminars with industry professionals, to networking sessions, to hands on work experience.

I really enjoyed the sessions; this program has really opened my eyes to a lot of interests and has enabled me to connect and network with some very interesting non-for profits organisations

Participants were provided opportunities to test and develop their skills in a professional environment, whilst experiencing first-hand what steps can be taken to break into the industry post-graduation.

Students who joined this program have developed a range of skills that they are able to showcase using an RMIT Cred.

"It fits my studies perfectly and I found it very useful to know how things work in the industry,” shared a student participant.
