Study Support Hub

A welcoming drop-in study space.

The Study Support Hub is staffed by Academic Skills Advisors, Maths and Science Advisors and Librarians who can help you with understanding your assessment task instructions and getting started.

They can also help with finding books, articles, images and other sources, assignment writing and academic English, referencing and academic integrity, mathematics and science study skills.

Swanston Study Support Hub:

In Semester 2 2025, the Hub will be open between Monday 21 July – Friday 31 October.

Monday to Friday, 12pm to 4pm, excluding public holidays and the mid-semester break.

Location: Swanston Library, Building 10, Level 5, City campus.

Bundoora Study Support Hub:

In Semester 2 2025, the Hub will be open between Tuesday 22 July – Thursday 30 October.

Tuesday to Thursday, 11am to 2pm, excluding public holidays and the mid-semester break.

Location: Bundoora Library, Building 210, Level 2, Room 17.

Can’t attend the Hub? Book an on-campus or online appointment with an Academic Skills Advisor, Maths and Science Skills Advisor or Librarian, or submit a study support question via the Student Connect portal.

Writing and assessment support

Academic Skills Advisors can help you understand your assessment tasks and rubrics and can give you overall advice on your assessments including:

  • planning and getting started
  • assessment structure and academic writing
  • presentation skills 
  • academic integrity
  • study skills including reading strategies and time management

  • understand how to use generative AI tools to help in your learning

Academic skills advisors cannot: 

  • proofread your assessments
  • provide detailed advice about sentence structure and grammar use (for instant and detailed advice about sentence structure and grammar use, use Studiosity’s AI-powered Writing Feedback Plus Service)

Students can book appointments with Academic Skills Advisors once per week.

PhD candidates can get help with researching, writing, referencing and publishing strategies via Library Research Services.

Maths and science support

Maths and Science Skills Advisors can help you to develop essential mathematical skills, understand mathematical processes and to develop high level skills across maths and science e.g. statistics, engineering, physics, chemistry and more.

Students can book appointments with Maths and Science Skills Advisors once per week.

Statistics help is available for PhD candidates via the free statistical consultancy service in the School of Graduate research.
