RMIT Chaplaincy provides help and spiritual support for students and staff of all faiths, and also assists those with secular views.
RMIT's Chaplains are trained multi-faith spiritual advisers representing Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, Islamic faiths and Integral Spirituality traditions. We provide support to students and staff of all faiths, and also provides guidance to those who identify as secular.
If you have something on your mind that you need to talk through like life events, studies, unexpected losses and conflicts, relationships, we are ready with a listening ear.
Conversations with a Chaplain are confidential and open to all RMIT students and staff – you do not need to be someone of faith to talk to a Chaplain.

Chaplain – Interfaith (City campus)
Rev Helen Summers is an Interfaith Minister who studied in New York and was ordained in 1997. Helen brings many years of experience in education and pastoral care to the role of chaplain.
As an Interfaith Minister, Helen embraces the deep truths found at the heart of all authentic spiritual traditions that give meaning to life, and the shared wealth of spiritual practices that help us evolve and grow. Helen is deeply respectful of the commitment to common values of peace, compassion, wisdom, service, and above all, love, which is found in all traditions. Interfaith Ministers acknowledge the One Spirit that resides in all.
Chaplain – Islamic
Riad Galil has been serving as the Imam of the West Heidelberg Mosque for the past 15 years. He is an educationalist by profession, working at the secondary and tertiary levels. Interfaith dialogue is so important to him as he is a member of the Jewish Christian Muslim Association (JCMA) and the Knox Multicultural Advisory Committee, Publicity Officer at the Knox Interfaith Network and Executive Member of the Victorian Board of Imams. In 2011 he received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to the Islamic community and the promotion of interfaith relationships.
Chaplain - Islamic
Director, Board of Imams Vic, will provide pastoral care for Muslim students and staff at RMIT. Sheikh Moustapha will also conduct Jum'ah prayer each Friday from 1.30pm-2pm. Sheikh Moustapha can be contacted at moustapha.sarakibi@rmit.edu.au
Chaplain – Buddhist
Victoria welcomes everyone from the RMIT community regardless of religious background and ethnicity to enjoy the benefits of mindful based stress reduction techniques and loving kindness practices. Her manner is friendly and relaxed, open to all seeking more peace and happiness in their lives using accessible secular techniques. Victoria comes from a Mahayana background but has deep respect for the Theravada tradition having studied and attended numerous retreats over the years. Victoria travels to India annually to further her practice and studies and teaches at retreats in Bali and Europe.
